MAGNIFY MENCHACA AT A GLANCE
Magnify Menchaca is a community-led capital campaign effort, hosted by the Menchaca Elementary PTA.
As a part of the Austin ISD 2017 Bond, Menchaca Elementary was selected as a fast-track new build, based on the poor condition of the existing facility.
Because of steel and labor costs increasing since the bond total price for the rebuild was established, there is a gap in funds available for some of the items that were originally planned for the school.
Our goal is to raise additional funds needed for the rebuild of our elementary school campus that is currently under construction. Magnify Menchaca is prioritizing items and allocating funds raised toward these campus enhancements.

UPGRADE THE PLAYGROUND AREAS
There is a playground included in the construction plan, but it is at a “basic” budget price point, meaning that it will be a lower grade playground than what was originally envisioned in the campus design. Our fundraising will increase the level of playground to what was originally planned.
CENTRAL COURTYARD DECK CONSTRUCTION
The original design plan had decking encircling the oak tree that will be in the middle of the campus courtyard. This too was cut from the budget. Our fundraising efforts will go towards building decking around half of the tree.
LANDSCAPING
The original design included adding trees, a butterfly garden, poetry garden, welcome garden, and natural grasses and bushes throughout the campus. These landscaping details have been scaled back in the construction budget, and we hope to add these details back in.
MURALS AND FURNITURE ADDITIONS
There are several mural walls in the school design, but the budget for paying to have the murals painted has been removed. Additionally, the furniture will need to be purchased for the community room. Part of our efforts will be to add these items back into the campus design. This will include looking into donations, reduced-price opportunities, and determining how much needs to be fundraised toward these items.
